On a sweltering summer's day, whilst making my way from Nippori Station through the alleyways towards Iriya Station, my eye was caught by morning glories blooming on someone's door. Climbing up a rather forlorn fence, they grew and bloomed vibrantly even under the scorching sun, seeming to me like a symbol of strength and softness coexisting within the city. I felt that simply striving to live amidst such heat was indeed remarkable.
Arriving at Iriya Station and stepping into the air-conditioned concourse, my overheated heart settled and I regained my composure. Glancing up, I noticed morning glory patterns adorning the platform wall, as if signalling the journey's end.
I transformed that memory into a pixelated motif, designing the morning glories to bloom within the knit. As a presence within everyday life, strong and ceaselessly growing.
